JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Detention Facilities Therapist

HOURS: 22 hours a week

SALARY: This position is $50/hour. This is a grant-funded position lasting through at least September 2024 with annual application to renew the grant funding.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, this position provides individual and group counseling to individuals currently incarcerated or detained, or with a history of detention, who have been impacted by sexual assault, violence, or exploitation.

Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in a human services field.
License as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with and sensitivity to low income and at-risk populations.
Experience working with clients that have experienced sexual assault and other forms of trauma.
Experienced in working with incarcerated individuals.
Experience working with individuals who have drug and alcohol addictions or dependency
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Direct Service Responsibilities:
Implements the Verity mission of eliminating violence with a specific emphasis on sexual violence and trauma.
Provides trauma-informed, solution-focused individual counseling; Utilize a working framework focused on recovery from trauma.
Provides counseling or skill-building groups as needed.
Collaborates with Sexual Assault Advocates on case management for clients.
Understands the diversity of our Sonoma County communities and most specifically the community of individuals who are incarcerated, the trauma impact on their lives with current and previous trauma, and when applicable, the capacity to provide appropriate focused steps to avoid re-victimization of the client through this process.
Establishes measurable goals with client’s input, and relates treatment plan to client goals.
Demonstrates understanding of transference and counter-transference issues with clients.
Offers appropriate referrals to clients.
Uses supervisory feedback constructively.
Documents all client contact and session notes per Verity standards.
Meets with Executive Director as needed.
Collects client evaluation forms in a timely fashion.
Attends to agency needs for documentation.
Addresses other duties as assigned.

Due to COVID 19 we are working a hybrid version with not all staff being in the offices on the same
day/times. We do this for the health and well-being of all Verity employees. This would be required of
