Empowering Communities, Fostering Awareness

At Verity, we recognize the transformative power of education in preventing sexual violence.

Our Prevention Education Program is a dynamic initiative dedicated to fostering knowledge, awareness, and healthy relationship dynamics across Sonoma County communities. Through engaging presentations and outreach efforts, we aim to dismantle the root causes of sexual violence and create a safer, more informed community.

Objectives and Approach

Our community-wide education initiatives are rooted in challenging and changing the norms that perpetuate sexual violence. By creating safe spaces to have open conversations, dispelling myths, and instilling knowledge about healthy relationships, safe and unsafe touches, consent, and other key topics, we actively contribute to preventing future harm. Verity's professional facilitators are adept at tailoring presentations to diverse audiences of all ages including schools, businesses, agencies, medical centers, and service providers.

Community Education Goals

Verity’s Prevention Education Department strives to elevate awareness surrounding sexual assault, sexual harassment, human trafficking, and child abuse. Through comprehensive classroom and community presentations, we address the critical need for community education as a cornerstone of sexual violence prevention. All presentations are thoughtfully tailored to the unique dynamics of each group, and are available in both English and Spanish.

    Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP)

Empowers children with age-appropriate tools to understand body autonomy, personal boundaries, and consent. Through interactive lessons, kids learn the difference between safe, unsafe, and unwanted touch, how to say and respect “no,” and how to recognize body language cues. The program also teaches digital safety, helping children navigate online spaces, protect their personal information, and speak up if something feels uncomfortable. CAPP helps build a foundation of respect, confidence, and safety both in-person and online.

  • Teen Assault Prevention Program icon

TAPP (Teen Assault Prevention Program) and MSTAPP (Middle School Teen Assault Prevention Program)

Equip youth with the knowledge and tools to build healthy relationships and recognize harmful behaviors. These programs cover consent, communication, and respecting boundaries, as well as navigating digital spaces safely. Students learn how to identify and respond to online harassment, sextortion, and sexual bullying.  The curriculum also explains what sexual assault is, includes age-appropriate information about consent laws related to intercourse, and highlights red flags of grooming and human trafficking; empowering teens to protect themselves and seek support when something doesn’t feel right.

  • Sexual Harassment and Prevention Education icon

Sexual Harassment and Prevention Education (SHAPE)

Helps high school seniors prepare for life after graduation by addressing sexual harassment in college and the workplace, the risks of the “Red Zone,” and what consent means at 18. The program also covers digital footprints, online safety, and how to build safe, respectful environments as young adults. The goal is to empower seniors with the knowledge and confidence to recognize harmful behaviors, set boundaries, and protect themselves and others.

    Parent, Faculty, and Staff Presentations

Offer guidance on how to support children and teens who may be experiencing or disclosing sexual abuse, harassment, or exploitation. These sessions provide an overview of Verity’s free and confidential services, along with practical tools for responding with care and connecting youth to support. Our goal is to empower trusted adults to create safe, open environments where young people feel heard and protected.
