JOB TITLE: Lead Clinician, Forgotten Warriors Project
HOURS: This position is 23 hours/week.
SALARY:  $50 per hour. Contracted position
REPORTS TO: Counseling Services Manager


OVERVIEW:

Under the direct supervision of the Counseling Services Manager, this position involves the clinician providing counseling services for clients referred to Verity from a number of sources, including the Santa Rosa VA Clinic, for Verity’s Forgotten Warriors Project. The Lead Clinician provides weekly individual and group counseling to both female and male veteran survivors of military sexual trauma. This is a contracted position and there will be no benefits included in the position. Additionally, funding for this position is secure through June 30, 2020, and it is anticipated funding will be continued for additional years.


MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

• Implements the Verity mission of eliminating violence with a specific emphasis on sexual violence and trauma
• Conducts counseling intakes and scheduling of sessions
• Provides individual, couples, and family counseling using an effective trauma-focused theoretical framework to US military veterans and active military personnel who have experienced military sexual trauma
• Provides counseling or support groups with a membership of at least 5 individuals as needed 
• Provides case management and crisis intervention, as needed, for Forgotten Warriors Project clients within regular position working hours
• Understands the diversity of our Sonoma County communities 
• Establishes measurable goals with the client’s input and formulates a treatment plan based on goals
• Demonstrates understanding of transference and countertransference issues with clients
• Offers appropriate referrals to clients
• Uses supervisory feedback constructively
• Seeks consultation when needed
• Documents all client contact and session notes per Verity standards 
• Meets with Executive Director as needed
• Documents program activities
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports per grant funder requirements
• Attends to agency needs for documentation, including entry of client data into an online data management system 
• Coordinates with Case Coordinator regarding identified needs of clients
• Communicates with outside agencies to coordinate referral of clients for counseling
• Collects and enters data into Apricot Database and prepares monthly and quarterly reports to be sent to the Veterans Service Office related to this grant
• Other duties as assigned

MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications Required:
• Master’s degree in a human services field required, and at least two years post-Master’s experience is required
• Experience with both complex and single incident trauma survivors
• Current license or registration as intern/associate as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor required

Qualifications Desired:
• Experience working with clients who have experienced and/or witnessed military sexual assault and other forms of trauma 
• Experience and knowledge of the military, organizations that serve military and veteran families, and those populations
• Experience with and sensitivity to low-income and at-risk populations
